Cocaine Addiction in Teens

Although reliable statistics are hard to come by, there is definitely a prevalence of cocaine addiction in teens compared to decades ago. One of the reasons for this is that cocaine is simply more accessible these days and more teens are therefore able to experiment with it. Since most teens do not have a good concept of the addictive nature of cocaine, it may seem harmless to try it just once or twice. This is how many teens and young adults end up in drug rehab centers years later. Simply put, cocaine is not a drug that can typically be used on a casual basis. Upon realizing the seemingly beneficial effects of the drug, especially when smoked in crack form, the user can many times lose their moral stance and become victim to its addictive nature.
But if cocaine addiction in teens is caught early on, there certainly is hope for the future. If your teen has developed a problem with cocaine then there is a chance that there may be a dual diagnosis. This simply means that they could be self-medicating in order to gain relief from another symptom or disease. No matter what the specific circumstances are, it is important to get help as soon as possible.
